UX Designer

Job Introduction

Main Responsibilities

  • Produces deliverables appropriate to the needs of the project/customer with regards to visual design, graphics, usability and accessibility.
  • Presents deliverables to customers/development teams.
  • Works within highly Agile environments.
  • Liaises with developers to ensure an appropriate implementation of the design.
  • Liaises with customers to ensure all deliverables fully meet the needs of the users and the requirements / expectations set.
  • Performs UX evaluations and recommends improvements in user interface, with regard for visual design and user interaction.
  • Assists in setting design standards.
  • Mentors trainee designers.
  • Promotes UX design throughout the company.
  • Accurately reports progress on their tasks and raises future risk and issues within own area.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of relevant UX design developments and actively shares knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to use appropriate technologies (e.g.HTML, CSS, JQuery, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop and Illustrator) to produce deliverables.
  • Sound understanding of fundamental design concepts (Typography, visual hierarchy, Colour, texture etc.).
  • Basic understanding of the 5 competencies of UX Design (information architecture, interaction design, usability engineering, visual design and prototype engineering)
  • Experience in conducting usability and accessibility assessments.
  • Good understanding of user centred design.
  • Sound awareness of the business and project constraints as they apply to UX design
  • Capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management.
  • Capable of understanding customer requirements and user needs and producing deliverables that reflect that understanding.
  • Experience of working within Agile development environments and has a sound understanding of Agile practices.
