Tier 2 Technical Support Engineer

Tier 2 Technical Support Engineer

Job Description

Local software house with international client base are now looking to recruit a Technical Support Engineer for their Support and Engineering Centre in Belfast. This role offers an excellent career path and opportunity to progress to a Tier 3 Support Engineer role. You will have the opportunity to support some of the world’s largest commercial websites and government clients who use our client’s desktop and mobile solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with other support and engineering staff and alongside the Consulting and Development functions you will play a key role in providing first class support to their internal and external customers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Take ownership of and resolving customer support issues
  • Carry out thorough analysis of production issues
  • Communicate with internal and external customers while maintaining strong relationships
  • Ensure support issues are resolved within agreed SLAs

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • BSc in Computing Science or equivalent third level qualification
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an application support role
  • Previous experience of dealing directly with internal and external customers
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills
  • Experience of Webservices, XML, SQL, Oracle

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Previous experience of coding or debugging Java or JavaScript
  • Experience of UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Web Application Servers such as Tomcat or Websphere
  • Exposure to Virtual servers
  • Experience with Sequel Server Reporting, Integration or Admin services
  • Previous support of reporting tools such as Crystal Reports
