Simulation Software Developer (MATLAB)

Simulation Software Developer (MATLAB) – Belfast

Client:

  • Boutique analytics firm who provides innovative analytics solutions to the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare market are developing a novel computer simulation platform for the optimisation of clinical trial design and analysis.

Role:

  • This platform is currently at the beta testing stage. We now have a vacancy in our Belfast Office for an experienced statistician/software developer to assist in the development of the software and in bringing it to market.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Develop novel software applications to aid the design of complex clinical research studies
  • Develop and implement new capabilities, including IT, tools, standards and processes
  • Work with clients to obtain feedback and incorporate into software
  • Be an integral part of a project team and work closely with other staff
  • Promote the products and services to external audience at conferences, workshops etc
  • Understand project and business objectives
  • Communicate project goals, status and progress
  • Help identify and remove project barriers
  • Assure quality of work that will meet project goals and objectives

This position would suit any dynamic, innovative individual with an interest in taking on a challenging role within a small but rapidly growing company. We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physical/Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline with high mathematical content and preferably a higher degree.
  • MATLAB programming experience
  • Experience in using statistical design and analysis in scientific research, preferably in a biomedical or pharmaceutical context.
  • The ability to generate and implement innovative ideas into efficient code.
  • The ability to test the product in controlled, real situations before going live.
  • The ability to maintain the code once it is up and running.
  • The ability to work as part of a small team or work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have sound analytical thinking

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, statistical principles – especially in biomedical situations.
  • Experience in modelling and simulation of scientific data
  • Commercial experience in software development, including source control and unit testing
  • Object Oriented programming experience
  • Experience in biostatistics or clinical trial design.
  • C#, MySQL, web development experience
