Quantity Surveyor

PURPOSE OF ROLE

 Responsible for the full provision of Electrical Quantity Surveying services across the company’s operations.To effectively produce main contractor M&E valuation claims and itemise works activities within the conditions of MTC, quoted work and BOQ contracts. Produce detailed measurement for interim claims and final accounts for contracts, projects and activities carried out by the company.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 ·         Produce and specify the relevant work information to enable claims for work activities to be detailed for the client ready for valuations across the company’s operations

·         Provide technical backup in support of all claims and meet with client representatives to resolve any queries.

·         Preparation of costed estimates for new works tenders

·         Completion of pricing submissions for MEAT tenders

·         Completing take offs from drawings & producing a BOQ for same

·         Monitor and manage both in-house & sub-contractor costs from inception to completion of relevant contracts highlight areas of concern or increased delivery costs

·         Sending tender enquires to sub-contractors and supplier

·         Establish and maintain a professional relationship with the Client organisation to help maintain Client confidence & satisfaction in the service delivery.

·         Assist with the preparation of all specifications and organisation of works in accordance with contract requirements

·         Monitor and report on sub-Contractor Performance implementing corrective action requests where necessary.

·         Carry out and maintain Audit Inspection & Informal inspection forms, reporting discrepancies to the Project Manager.

·         Hold regular meetings with sub- contractors covering performance, valuations, H&S and general work outputs.

·         Implement and maintain an effective record filing system for all accounts and certificates.

·         Liaison closely with Accountant in regard to payments and reporting of annual budget, provide additional budget information when required.

 QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 ·         Degree in Quantity Surveying or HNC with minimum 5 years post qualification experience working in main contractor M&E quantity surveying environment

·         Preparation and management of NEC3 contractual claims including early warnings and compensation events

·         Knowledge of various Forms of Contract – NEC3, JCT, GC Works etc

·         Knowledge of measured term contracts

·         Working experience of industry Schedule of Rates in particular PSA and NHF

·         Professional approach with the ability to communicate effectively with both the Client and Sub-Contractors.

·         IT skills with in depth knowledge and experience using Word/Excel and specific QS packages.

·         Sound knowledge of Electrical Services and a good understanding of the technical, commercial and contractual processes involved.
