Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor, County Down

Hays Recruitment have been retained by a large main contractor in their recruitment of a Quantity Surveyor to work on a high-profile £40m project located in London. Established over 40 years ago, my client has undertaken and successfully delivered an impressive range of contracts across the UK and Ireland. Operating with a turnover of over £100m, the company maintains a strong presence in the construction industry in NI and even further afield. With projects in the education, healthcare, commercial and residential sectors, they have completed projects up to £50m in value. Due to increased growth, they now have a need to add an additional Quantity Surveyor to their commercial team.

Role

You will be degree educated in Quantity Surveying, and will ideally have at least 3 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role working on large value projects. You will be part of a team of 4 Quantity Surveyors, reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Strong commercial attitude and excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be dealing with sub contractors and clients on a daily basis. This role will require travel to the mainland UK.

Responsibilities

* Preparation & management of the project budget
* Procurement of subcontractors and agreement of subcontract conditions
* Commercial control of subcontract packages
* Value and agree the cost of any variations
* Prepare cost, value and reconciliation monthly reports on each assigned project
* With regards to estimate build up costs for each element of the work, identify labour, material requirements and source and obtain quotations where applicable.
* Liaise with purchasing / buying for specialist providers
* Attend internal hand-over meetings
* Provide feedback information to Business Development regarding tender values vs. actual costs
* Maintain working relationships with the client and project team
* Providing contractual advice to the Project Manager
* Travel to sites within the UK and potentially overseas.
