The network support engineer position is in the NOC, specifically the Network Infrastructure operations team. The Infrastructure operation teams’ major responsibility is to provide 24 X 7 support for issues occurring in the network infrastructure platforms and protocols.  As a network support engineer you will perform routine, day-to-day procedural activities, which may include recovery support to the rest of Operations and includes communication status updates to various support teams based on published documentation.

 

The working hours for this Network Support Engineer role are:

Week-Day Shift: Tuesday – Friday, 0600 – 1600 GMT; Shift allowance £5000 will be applicable plus a car parking space

Weekend Shift: Saturday – Monday, 0100 – 1400 GMT; Shift allowance £6000 will be applicable plus a car parking space

Essential Criteria for this Network Engineer position are:

  • Third level IT or Engineering Degree/HND qualification or an additional 2 years relevant industry experience in an infrastructure role with Industry related qualifications.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years networking experience including experience of:

Products & platforms

  • LAN switching – Cisco IOS 6500, 4500, 3560X, 3750X, NXOS, 7000, 5000, and 2000
  • WAN routers – Cisco IOS, ISR G1 or G2, ASR’s, 7600
  • F5 – LTMs, GTMs and associated CLI & tmsh
  • Cisco wireless controllers and access points
  • Network Management tools (Netcool, NetQOS, eHealth, etc.)
  • One or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Linux shell, Windows PowerShell, etc.)

 

  • Features
    • Routing (BGP, OSPF, route redistribution, static routes, NAT, Policy based routing)
    • QOS – CBWFQ, Policing, Shaping, troubleshooting
    • WAN circuit deployment – T1, MLPPP, Ethernet
    • Spanning tree (PVST+, RSPT preferred, MST)
    • VPN’s (Point to Point VPN’s, DMVPN)
    • Multicast (PIM SM, BSR); and
    • Have experience utilizing traffic generators to simulate production traffic on pre-production networks.
    • Have experience troubleshooting networks using tools like tcpdump, wireshark, netqos, eHealth.
    • Have experience with troubleshooting large or highly complex incident working in collaboration with peers, clients, and/or junior staff.
    • Be able to coordinate and mentor others with their work.
    • Be a detailed oriented person with low error rates in the quality of their work.
    • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills
    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 or Tier 2 Visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment.

 Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of storage administration – SAN, NAS
  • Hold a CCNP certification
