Java Team Lead

Job Description

On behalf of our client we are looking to recruit and experienced Java Software Engineer with team lead experience to join their R&D headquarters in Belfast. The chosen candidate will lead one of their main development teams and have a major influence on their core enterprise products that are used by companies and organisations throughout the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working within the Software Development Team you will lead a team of talented software engineers through all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle. Your duties will include:

  • Be involved in the design and coding of all products
  • Ensure the team meets agreed deadlines and high coding standards are maintained
  • Conduct code reviews
  • Act as point of escalation and provide training to team members
  • Work closely with PMO when planning resources and prioritising tasks
  • Communicate all projects, products, features and changes to the team
  • Motivate team members and carry out relevant admin tasks

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • BSc or MSc in Computing Science/Software Engineering or equivalent third level qualification
  • Demonstrate at least four years programming experience, two of which involve Java
  • Minimum two years experience in a software development team lead/supervisor position
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

DESIRED CRITERIA:

In addition to the above it would be an advantage to have some of the following:

  • Experience of J2EE or Spring
  • Development experience with JavaScript
  • Agile software development and full software lifecycle experience
  • Experience with SQL, Oracle, Web Services
  • Automation test experience using Selenium or other similar testing tools

REWARDS:

Depending on experience and interview performance the salary for this role is up to £42,000 with potential 10% bonus and benefits package. The working environment is high speed, but flexible and accommodating with great opportunity to learn and improve skills. Occasional travel may be required.
