Java Contract Roles – City Centre

Our client is an international organisation with a software development centre in Belfast. They are keen to take on 1-2 experienced Java contractors to close out some existing project work.

Responsibilities

The Principal Developer will lead one of our technically challenging project teams. Working closely with colleagues in the US, you will use your significant experience to translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions. You will use your leadership skills to ensure that the team produces a quality product that will meet or exceed customer expectations.

•Successfully complete assigned tasks across the complete software development life cycle including; requirements analysis, design, construction and testing
•Allocation and delivery of team project tasks to quality and on time
•Encourage and promote teamwork and innovation
•Work effectively with both internal and external partners
•Build collaborative customer relationships by providing valuable expertise to customers
•Communicate information clearly and concisely, sharing an appropriate level of detail and using the appropriate communication methods
•Provide regular project feedback to management
•Understand and follow methodologies
•Ensure that appropriate development and testing processes are defined and followed
•Providing coaching and mentoring to colleagues
•Continuously develop your personal and professional skills and knowledge

The Ideal Person

Essential

•Bachelor’s Degree in Software Development
•Experience of Enterprise Java software development in a large scale distributed application
•Demonstrate a clear understanding of performance tuning measures within isolated and distributed systems
•Demonstrate a clear understanding of security in application design and development
•Demonstrate a clear understanding of reliability, availability and serviceability constraints on application design and development
•Strong problem solving and decision making skills
•Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
•The ability to effectively collaborate in software development activities
•Experience of leadership, mentoring and coaching

Desirable

•Experience of working in multi site teams
•Web design development (HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, XML)
•Web service development
