Human Rights Assistant

Our client based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Humans Rights Assistant to join their existing team.

 
Hourly rate: £7.25 rising to £14.81 after 12 completed weeks
Hour of work: 37 hours per week Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm
 

Key roles and Responsibilities
 
(a) Support for monitoring Human Rights Compliance

  • Managing a database of Human Rights action points and developing an annual implementation plan to inform the preparation of a Human Rights Annual Report;
  • Drafting the Human Rights Annual Report and any thematic reports as agreed by the Performance Committee;
  • Organising meetings (including taking notes and any necessary follow-up) in support of the work of the Human Rights Advisor;
  • Drafting correspondence as follow up to these meetings as required;
  • Supporting the Policy Manager on all duties associated with the publication and launch of Human Rights documents including securing adequate administrative arrangements.

(b) General support to the Board/Committee

  • Drafting briefing papers and correspondence in support of the Board/Committees on issues as required including undertaking necessary research and liaison with external and internal parties; 
  • Attending meetings / sub-groups as necessary in support of the work of the Board/Committees; 
  • Representing the branch on any corporate working groups and ensuring that key issues are actioned;
  • Taking forward Board/Committee action points;
  • Regularly updating the Policy Manager on ongoing work issues;
  • Other duties as and when required.

(c) Management of Staff & Resources

  • Liaising with other Board staff as required;
  • Managing a budget spreadsheet to monitor branch expenditure.

Person Specification

 

  • 5 GCSE’s A – C grade (including Maths and English Language)
  • Experience of interpreting and explaining legislation
