Rutledge Recruitment & Training are working in conjunction with a public sector body to source a Home Safety Officer for an 8-10 week fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.

The successful Home Safety Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and undertaking home safety visits. He/she will visit households considered to be a high risk of experiencing a home accident.  These homes of will predominantly involve those aged over 65,children under the age of 5 and other vulnerable groups.  The purpose of the visit is to offer information and advice to the householder on avoidance of accidents, as well as identifying any hazardous features in and around the home likely to cause accidents.  With the householders consent the post holder will make onward referrals to other relevant services and provide safety equipment when deemed appropriate. 

Essential Criteria:

- 5 GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) including English Language and Maths.
- A minimum of 1 years’ relevant experience working in the area of community, voluntary, health or rural sectors. 
- Must have a full current driving licence and/or* have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full (* This relates to any person who has declared to having a disability which debars them from driving)

Desirable Criteria:

- 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline
- Additional relevant experience in access of 2 years 
- Valid Child Protection/Vulnerable Adult Certificate

Additional Information:

Hours of work will be 37 per week from Monday to Friday, with a flexi time system in operation. The successful Home Safety Officer must work over 37 hours per week, before entitlement to overtime or time in lieu is applicable.  This will be reimbursed in line with the overtime scheme. 

The successful Home Safety Officer will be subject to ACCESS NI Check and all short-listed candidates must be screened for identity, proof of qualifications / training, driving licence and so on.
