Healthcare Support Worker

First Choice are looking for someone with experience in working with children and adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will be confident, professional and able to follow good practice. Being a team player is key in this role and having the ability to react accordingly in a crisis situation. Some of the duties involved are:

  • Assisting clients as directed by the Teaching staff /House Co-ordinators and/or Group Leaders
  • Supervision of clients at all times
  • Deal with minor First Aid
  • Report and record all accidents and significant events
  • Assist clients with intimate care needs
  • Carry out various cleaning duties
  • Reflect on Practice and learn from it, attend relevant mandatory and other in-service training programmes as required.
  • Follow the Policies and Procedures of the client

The Following criteria is essential:

  • Previous experience working with those who have learning disabilities
  • Previous experience in caring for those with challenging behaviour and achieving best practice in conflict management
  • Previous experience in assisting with personal care of clients

The following desirable criteria will be used for short listing purposes:

  • Management of actual or potential aggression, conflict management, crisis intervention training or equivalent
  • Experience in the symptoms of autism
  • MAPPA trained

The Support Work position is based in a community environment, working with young adults who have challenging behaviour. It is essential that the person applying has experience in this field additional training will be given as part of the induction process. The successful candidate must be willing to complete an Access NI police check and be willing to register with NISCC. (Northern Ireland Social Care Council)

These roles are LONG TERM Temporary , with the opportunity to become permanent. It will be full time hours 35 – 37.5 Hours per week. The pay rate for this role is £8.24 per hour. Male applicants are desirable. The client requires candidates to be fully flexible and able to work days, nights and weekends.
