Events Assistant

Title of Post:    Events Assistant

 

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Working within the Fundraising Team the Events Assistant will assist the Events and PR Officer in achieving Action Cancer fundraising targets, by raising a maximum amount of funds from events, and promoting the principles and objectives of the charity in accordance with Action Cancer’s strategic plan. The Events Assistant will hold responsibility for developing a strategy to generate a minimum of 20% of the annual income budget from events and schools fundraising, and will be responsible for Events and PR in the absence of the Events and PR Officer.  

 

Duties:

Fundraising

  • To assist with the delivery of key income events and to monitor the success of these and report back to the Events & PR Officer.
  • To liaise with individual fundraisers raising money for AC on a daily basis and update the customer fundraising database.
  • To be responsible for supporting the marketing, organisation and implementation of overseas treks.
  • To research new fundraising events.
  • To develop and meet agreed targets by building on the charity’s existing events programme and by taking responsibility for introducing new events with the aim of generating a minimum of 20% of the annual income budget for Action Cancer.
  • To develop meaningful and effective relationships with individuals, clubs and associations with the aim of encouraging them to run events on behalf of the charity.
  • To provide support and backup to external parties who offer to run events for Action Cancer.
  • To supervise volunteers, and placements with the aim of maximizing events income.
  • Assist with the production of the publications and promotional materials relating to events.
  • To maximize fundraising potential of all events.
  • To research new fundraising events for Action Cancer
  • To liaise with individuals and/or groups raising money for the charity.
  • To attract donations and support from the general public.
  • To provide support and excellent customer service to external supporters who wish to run events for Action Cancer.
  • To attend cheque presentations.
  • Administrative duties relating to all the above.

 

Public Relations

  • Acting as a spokesperson for Action Cancer and promoting the work of the charity as necessary.

 

Health and Safety

  • To ensure that the workplace for which the post holder is responsible is maintained appropriately and in accordance with Action Cancer’s Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
  • To ensure that lone working requirements are met.

 

Other Requirements

  • To observe equality of opportunity in all areas of the day-to-day work for which the post holder has responsibility.
  • To actively participate in the implementation of the Annual Performance Review system and assessments.
  • To undertake training as required.
  • To undertake any other duties, which may be requested by the Events & PR Officer, which are commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
  • To empathise with fundraisers/volunteer/groups who have had personal experiences with cancer.
