Environmental Microbiology Technician

Applications are invited for the position of Environmental Microbiology Technician based within the Environmental Microbiology Department.

The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for performing environmental monitoring of classified Production cleanroom facilities.  This role includes:

  • Environmental sampling of high-grade pharmaceutical cleanrooms using surface, air and non-viable particle count testing.
  • Recording of environmental data on the departmental database system.
  • Downloading & assessment of temperature / humidity data loggers.
  • Assisting with investigations into cleanroom non-conformant results.
  • Assisting with isolate identification and HEPA filter integrity testing.

 

This is an important role which demands dedicated staff to conduct all required testing using good aseptic technique and in accordance with standard operating procedures / current regulatory requirements.  All successful candidates will undergo extensive training for this role.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Passes in English and Maths at GCSE level (or equivalent).
  • The ability to work a shift pattern including a continental shift pattern.
  • Candidates must hold a minimum of 2.5 years eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Good oral and written communication skills as demonstrated on their application form and at interview.
  • Candidates must past a preliminary aptitude test to be considered for interview.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Qualification at A-level or above (or equivalent) in a science related subject.
  • Experience working within a Pharmaceutical Company or similar highly regulated environment.
  • Experience working within a controlled environment or experience in a role which requires good aseptic technique or is related to contamination control.
