Commercial Solicitor (Leadership & Management)

One of the nation’s fastest growing private companies with offices in the heart of Belfast City Centre, have instructed HAYS Legal to commence a search for a very talented Senior Commercial Lawyer to join their dynamic and innovative team in a management and leadership capacity

What we’re looking for

This is a full-time permanent role that will provide leadership and oversight to a UK based team of lawyers dedicated to supporting our client, a multi-national telecommunications company, in the drafting, negotiation and management of their commercial contracts.

The Manager will be responsible for assisting in the effective management of the team, overseeing the drafting and negotiation of contracts, acting as a key point of contact for the client, and continuously developing process improvements, playbooks and templates for the various agreements.

The Manager will also have accountability for assisting in the successful delivery of the UK outsourced solution to a world-leading client. Should have deep expertise as a commercial lawyer, along with an appetite for the development of and adherence to processes that drive efficiencies in legal work and the creation, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.

Essential Criteria

Admission to the Roll of Solicitors NI or Admission to Roll of Solicitors, Eng & Wales
Minimum 5 years of experience in a high volume commercial law environment;
Proven track record of managing diverse teams;
Demonstrable experience and deep interest in managing to commercial/business outcomes, including responsibility for working within budget parameters;
Ability to manage workflow – efficiently allocating and monitoring work of the team;
Ability to assess performance and coach a team, including quickly identifying areas of under and over performance, providing constructive feedback to team members and opportunities for development;

The legal knowledge to act as an advisor to our client and serve as an escalation point on issues, substantive or otherwise, for the team, while managing and filtering escalations back to the client.

The Manager may also handle some complex matters from start-to-finish;
Passion for innovation and creativity in driving efficiencies through better management of process, playbooks, templates, and use of technology;

Ability to develop key client relationships, and accurately report on performance;
Demonstrated ability to interface and work well with all levels of an organization to effectively negotiate complex agreements and bring deals to closure, while managing a team required to perform under pressure;
