Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant – Permanent Opportunity – Lisburn – £22,000 – £24,000 per annum

Hays are working exclusively with this reputable NI business to assist in the recruitment of a brand new position for a talented Assistant Accountant. This is a great opportunity to join a thriving business and work closely with an established and experienced accounting team.

This role will ideally suit an experienced part qualified accountant or an accounting professional with the requisite experience in preparing accounts and balance sheet reconciliations to fulfil the duties of an assistant accountant effectively. It will allow the successful candidate autonomy in their role but also the support and supervision of an experienced senior finance team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the production and reconciliation of all relevant balance sheet accounts.
Ensure all assigned NL reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis within set deadlines.
Identify and escalate any problems/issues with reconciliations as they occur.
Posting and reconciliation of production figures on a daily and weekly basis.
Ensure that standard internal reports are compiled on a regular basis and provided to the management team in a timely manner.
Preparation and posting of general ledger journals.
Ensure best practice procedures are in place and develop a process of continuous improvement of all processes and systems.
To become familiar with all areas of the accounts function to provide cover if necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:
Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or significant previous experience of accounts preparation and reconciliation
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines
Excellent reporting skills
Good team player, flexible, enthusiastic person, able to work on own initiative
Strong interpersonal skills, must be able to speak with employees, other department managers and senior management.
Capacity to manage change – identify problems, their causes and practical solutions
