Assistant Accountant

JOB TITLE:                                 Assistant Accountant

DEPARTMENT:                        Finance

DURATION:                               9 Months

RESPONSBILE TO:                Financial Controller

LOCATION:                                  Omagh/Gortin

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant will be working closely with the DGL development and finance teams. The Assistant Accountant will be assisting with budgeting, rolling forecasting, variance analysis and procurement. It is expected that the split between procurement and budget reporting will be 50/50.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and interpret financial information in order to appraise project spend in terms of performance against budget together with explanations for variances;

  • Assist the project team in preparing budgets and regular update of rolling forecasts;

  • Co-ordinate and monitor payments to contractors to ensure that they comply with the contracts in place for the project;

  • Central point of contact for all company procurement

  • Develop and apply Policies & Procedures in relation to approved expenditure.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects;

     

     

    Essential Criteria

     

  • Qualified accountant or part qualified with appropriate experience

  • Experience of preparing budgets and reporting budget to actual variances on a monthly basis;

  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify out of budget spend and report thereon

  • Experience of using a computerised accounting package and Microsoft Excel to produce reports in a timely manner;

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Good people skills and team worker

  • Motivated individual with ability to manage workload and priorities;

  • Flexible worker with experience of meeting tight deadlines;

  • High level attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to make continuous improvements to systems and processes.

  • Clean driving license

 

 

Desirable Criteria

 

 

  • Experience of working on a project and monitoring project spend against budget;

  • Experience of SAGE 200;

  • Procurement experience
