- Having conversations about stories and how they should be implemented- Working collaboratively with the technical team in an Agile fashion and demonstrating the benefits of this methodology.

- Being able to keep the delivery aligned with business needs

- Providing just enough, concise documentation rather than heavy complex specs

- Being able to grab business users to advise on specific focussed stories rather than having unecessary workshops

Technical Competencies

  • Microsoft Office
  • Any formal scripting techniques for Agile Development, in particular Behaviour Driven Development
  • BPMN2

Overall Purpose / Scope

Be able to plan and lead the business analysis within a major transformation project whilst ensuring that the analysis deliverables are of a consistently high standard. To work actively with software development teams and the business communities to ensure user requirements are translated into appropriate technical solutions.

Key Relationships:

Business Stakeholders, Business and IT Project Managers, Solution Architects, internal and external Software Development Teams, Testing and Project Implementation staff.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Contribute to the overall success of project delivery:

  • Apply a standard business analysis approach for projects within assigned projects and ensure that this is performed according to agreed scope and plans.
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Provide consistent, high standard documentation of these requirements in the form of user stories.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artefacts as needed: User stories and BDD feature files will be the primary output but this role may also be expected to produce functional requirements, business requirements, gap analysis, use cases, process flows (BPMN2) and GUI/Screen/Interface designs.

Requirements management:

  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the Software Development team through which requirements flow.
  • Elaborate identified stories following agreed approach to provide the right level of information needed for the stories to be delivered.

Promote Best Practice:

  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
  • Perform peer reviews on all business analysis activities and deliverables within their assigned project(s), ensuring adherence of requirement specifications and process designs to the methodology and the pre-defined generic processes, requirements and design constraints.
  • Ensure the traceability of requirements throughout project lifecycles
  • Provide input to requirement reviews at a team and programme level to ensure consistency
  • Keep abreast of industry best practice in analysis techniques and demonstrate application within Capita Travel and Events
  • Identification and implementation of approved improvements to the business analysis methodology.
  • Promote and embrace changes that improve the effectiveness of Capita Travel and Events
