Production Manager (Food Sector)

Based in Co. Tyrone, you will have full responsibility for leading the manufacturing team within this fast paced rural manufacturing unit to achieve the operational targets. This is a wide ranging role in a successful & expanding fresh veg. manufacturing business (20+ operatives) and the role will cover the following:

  • Staff training and development
  • R&D and related process improvement
  • Support NPD and related activities (packaging, labelling etc.)
  • Manage product costings and manage seasonal cost variations
  • Support funding applications from various governmental and support bodies
  • Create and keep excel sheets up to date, submit weekly figures, and carry verify stock counts
  • Manage the food safety aspects and compliance
  • Support SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) activities on site
  • Support the development of ‘Lean’ activities across the site
  • Ensuring that highest standards of food safety and quality are met at all times
  • Overall responsibility for day to day running and efficiency of the factory
  • Motivate staff ensuring that production is carried out following standard operating procedures and customer orders are fulfilled
  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance operations

The candidate:

  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and problem solving skills and with a pro-active and forward thinking mind-set
  • Up to date Food Safety / HACCP certifications
  • Experience dealing with plant maintenance
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building successful teams
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident, assertive with sound decision making skills
  • Customer orientated and KPI driven
  • Good IT skills (MS Office)

  • Managing and building day-to-day client relationships.
  • Managing junior staff and taking on coaching responsibilities and contributing to development of new business relationships and business proposals.
  • Business resilience – working with clients to assist them in enhancing their control environments which can include developing integrated risk and control frameworks or providing s404 advice and testing capability.
  • Internal Audit Services – providing training and advisory services to Internal Audit functions such as reviewing the effectiveness of an Internal Audit Function. Providing internal audit support to a number of clients via co-sourcing ( working alongside their internal audit team)

Essential Skills:

  • Have a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CA, CISA, CIIA)
  • Must have an understanding of financial products and the operations and technology that support them

  • Experience in coaching and developing other members of staff
  • Be output focused and able to work autonomously without day-to-day supervision

This is an exciting role for candidates who have specific experience of UK funds/offshore funds reporting and a strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a Big 4 Company based in their Belfast Practice but with some work in Dublin also.


Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (Chartered Accountant or equivalent)
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation is ideal but not essential
  • Minimum of five years in a professional tax environment
  • Excellent technical skills and detailed knowledge of corporation tax

Key Responsibilities:

  • General administration, including working in capital management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, drive and enthusiasm are a pre-requisite for this role
  • Planning of tax compliance and offshore fund reporting timetables and liaising closely with clients and audit teams where appropriate
  • Reporting to and liaising with Directors and Partners on tax advisory projects
  • Assistance on due diligence and other transaction services work
  • Responsibility for training and monitoring Seniors and  trainees together with reviewing their work
  • Responsibility for delivering corporation tax compliance and offshore fund reporting services in an efficient high-quality manner. This will include assisting in tax provisioning work (deferred tax etc.) where appropriate and interaction with HM Revenue and Customs on enquiry matters
