Quantity Surveyor – Commercial/ High-End Residential

Quantity Surveyor – Commercial & High-End Residential

My client is leading construction contractor with an excellent reputation within the NI & UK market.

Due to an ever busy workload they are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Belfast. This person must be able to control costs, from procurement to final account for all aspects of cost.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will:

    • Compile sub-contract Order, issue for contractor to sign and ensure Order is returned prior to work commencing.

    • Attend pre-start meeting, handover completed procurement pack to site team.

    • Draft Customer Extras Sheet for Chief QS to agree with Sales Director. Price agreed customer extras list with final sub-contractors.

    • Issue Customer Extras List at pre-start meeting.

    • Ensure sub-contractor weekly and monthly applications for payment are analysed and checked.

    • Prepare interim payments for approval by Head of Commercial.

    • Draft Budget estimate summary for approval by the Head of Commercial.

    • Issue contra-charges as appropriate.

    • Keep Payment Record Sheets up to date following completion of each weekly and monthly payment run.

    • Highlight claims for additional works outside Budget Estimate Summary and report to Chief Quantity Surveyor.

    • Settle all Final Accounts expediently after works complete.

    • Carry out monthly progress checklist on site for all sites.

    • Input progress on valuation system.

    • Prepare sub-contract accruals.

    • Produce Valuation Breakdown Reconciliation (VBR).

    • Carry out cost and value reconciliation on all items in VBR and agree final VBR with Head of Commercial

    • Agree costs with the Accounts Department.

    • Prepare Cost Value Comparison (Profit & Loss) notes.

Essential Criteria:

    • You will have a degree in Quantity Surveyor/ CEM, and have a minimum of 2-3 years Quantity Surveying experience.

    • Ideal Project Experience will include Commercial/ Residential/ Industrial

    • Must be willing to travel 3-4 nights per month

Responsible To:                 Children’s Service Manager         

 

Hours:                                   20 Hours Flexible (Term Time)

 

Salary:                                   £8.71 per hour

 

Aim:                                        To ensure the delivery of efficient quality childcare services within Footprints Women’s Centre

 

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • To be responsible for the delivery of best practice in relation to childcare provision.

 

  • To support the Childcare Co-ordinator in the daily running of the centre through key duties such as managing staff rotation, break and lunch cover, health and safety checks.

 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure best practice is prioritised.

 

  • To contribute to the creation, maintenance and improvement of a child centred environment.

 

  • To ensure all Keyworkers plan and deliver a developmental programme through play suitable to the age and stage of development for each child.

 

  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of the daily routine in conjunction with Keyworkers.

 

  • To ensure that health and safety standards are maintained.

 

  • To ensure Keyworkers maintain appropriate administration records (registration, daily register, accident and incident reports, observation records and any other relevant administration, which may arise.)

 

  • To act up when required for the childcare co-ordinator for short periods of time.

 

 

  • To identify and support staff development through individual and team assessment.

 

  • To develop good relationships with parents and ensure all Keyworkers adhere to the partnership with parent’s policy for Footprints Womens Centre.

 

  • To work closely with the Childcare Co-ordinator and Children’s Service Manager to ensure the smooth running of Footprints Children Services.

 

  • To participate in supervision, meetings and training as and when required.

 

  • To undertake any other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level III in either CCLD,  Childcare, Early Years or equivalent

 

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 year’s experience, in the last 5 years, working within a childcare setting, one of which should be at supervisory level.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with parents and other professionals
  • Observation and record keeping skills
  • A knowledge of current practice
  • Ability to cope with many different roles and responsibilities

Company & Project:

Our client is a leading Building & Civil Engineering contractor with vast experience within the UK Construction industry.

A requirement exists for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial Team. They require a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage a large-scale industrial scheme, and a prestigious commercial build project, both based in mainland UK.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be expected to handle the budget of these projects, manage contractual arrangements, monitor the projects, produce financial reports, minimise costs and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

This is a superb opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who is able to demonstrate a strong commercial track record, achieving reputable profit on a regular basis and be able to manage cost robustly and professionally.

Key Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role

    • Quantity Surveying experience in airport projects

    • Educated to degree level in a related subject

    • Design & Build Experience is advantageous

    • Previous roles: Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor

They currently have new build social housing projects and are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team.

You will have a minimum of 3-5 years structured experience as a Quantity Surveyor working on New Build Social Housing. The Quantity Surveyor must come from a structured social housing background and must have experience working on relevant projects.

Working with the Commercial Director you will be procuring/managing a number of key sub-contractors/packages and ensuring the project is on track and on budget and produce relevant financial documentation in line with requirements. 

Qualifications:

    • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction

    • 3 years minimum experience as a Quantity Surveyor

    • Social Housing/ Private Housing project experience preferred
